Job Title: Retread Technician – Shop Equipment Operator

Colony Tire Corporation located in Edenton, NC, is currently seeking a full-time Retread Technician – Shop Equipment Operator to join our team! Full benefit package offered, including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) + Profit Sharing, paid holidays, vacation time, company paid life insurance, and short-term disability.

$2000 dollar sign on bonus!

**This will be paid out $200 per month from Month 3 to Month 12. 1 Must work entire first year to receive full bonus and be within good standing of the company. Terms may apply**

Summary:

As a Retread Technician Shop Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in the process of retreading tires, ensuring quality control and efficient operation of shop equipment. This role will perform retreading functions for light, medium truck, and specialty tires as well as other duties as assigned by the manager. Your responsibilities will include operating specialized machinery, monitoring equipment performance, and assisting in the retreading process under the supervision of senior technicians. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in automotive or mechanical fields is a plus.
  • Prior experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or automotive environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand and interpret technical specifications and instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise handling of equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects (up to 100 pounds, frequently, or move up to 100 pounds) and work in various positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling, for extended periods.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement in all aspects of job performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate retread machinery and equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identifying and troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the preparation of tires for retreading, including buffing, grinding, and inspecting tire casings.
  • Apply rubber compounds and tread patterns to retread tires using appropriate machinery and techniques.
  • Ensure accurate application of materials and adherence to quality standards throughout the retreading process.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools, materials, and finished products.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deliver high-quality retreaded tires to customers.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in training programs and skill development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and performance.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The environment may or may not be air conditioned/heated seasonally. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific visions abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. As a result, minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but employees usually can avoid serious accidents if safe practices are observed and practiced.
