HD/PLT Alignment Technician

Job Title: HD/PLT Alignment Technician

Colony Tire located in Walterboro, SC is currently seeking a HD/PLT Alignment Technician to join our team! Our technicians work for competitive, unlimited pay. Summary:

The HD/PLT Alignment Technician, will play a crucial role in ensuring the precise alignment and calibration of heavy-duty (HD) and powertrain line-up technologies (PLT) within various machinery and automotive systems. Primary responsibilities include performing detailed alignment procedures on heavy equipment, trucks, and other vehicles, using advanced tools and techniques to maintain optimal performance and safety standards, as well as other duties assigned by manager.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Execute precision alignment tasks for heavy-duty equipment and powertrain systems, including but not limited to wheel alignment, axle alignment, and drivetrain adjustments.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify alignment issues and potential mechanical problems, conducting thorough inspections and analyses.
  • Calibrate and adjust alignment systems according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance on alignment equipment, ensuring tools and machines are in proper working condition.
  • Maintain detailed records of alignment procedures, diagnostic results, and maintenance activities for compliance and reference.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain alignment issues, recommend repairs, and solutions, ensuring a clear understanding of the work performed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and mitigate risks associated with alignment tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience: Proven experience as an alignment technician or similar role, preferably with heavy-duty or powertrain systems.
  • Skills: Proficiency in using alignment and diagnostic tools, strong mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Education: High school or equivalency; and/or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The environment may or may not be air conditioned/heated seasonally. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific visions abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. As a result, minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but employees usually can avoid serious accidents if safe practices are observed.
